Developing an understanding of community is one of the most important early learnings. So much so that many of the learning principles employed by Australian ELC’s are built on this theme.
Really? It’s that important? YES!
Understanding community helps children feel connected and valued; it helps them form a sense of identity and appreciate others’ perspectives. In effect, it empowers children to grow into compassionate, engaged adults who care for one another and the world around us. And it’s why we’ve curated a range of new activities underneath a new theme we’re calling… “HAPPY HEARTS, HAPPY PLACES”
The new “Happy Hearts, Happy Places” theme will come to life at MoPA through a community craft project (Psst… we need your help building a paper bag community). We’ll also share some of the most amazing literature about belonging, and explore how communities can come to life in dance.
So grab a friend (a member of your community) and pop in for a play at MoPA this Spring! x
Q: Is it a real car? A: Yes, and each has a special place in our ♥️
Q: Do you ever clean it? A: Yes, but the timing is a hot debate. 🧽 There is so much beauty in the layers, but also purity and timeless charm in its bare form.
Q: How do you choose the colours? A: Have you ever stirred up a slurpy? 🥤 If we’re not careful, it ends up brown; our team have become experts in avoiding that! 😆
Q: Why? Just why? A: All our exhibits are thoughtfully crafted to support early learning and creativity. Our world is full of boundaries and conformity (in most cases, for good reason!). The MoPA Art Car exhibit 🚗 is designed to give children an opportunity to do something that doesn’t “feel” within the confines impressed upon us; to help them see, experience first-hand, and learn, that creativity can so often be found in media and forms we never imagined would combine.
🏆 WIN WIN WIN 🏆

“This week at MoPA’s AFTERNOON ART CLASSES we learned about Yayoi Kusama. We created spotty mushrooms, met our new teachers, made friends with our classmates, and earned some very special rewards!”
Term 1 runs for 8 weeks, and there is still 7 weeks left - so if you’d like to join the fun mid-term (and pay only for the remaining classes!!) enrolments are now open. Head to www.mopa.com.au or call us on 1800 00 66 72 to learn more!
Yep. That’s right. FREE. So what are we waiting for? Let’s get out there and cut some intergeneration shapes on the MoPA D-floor!!
To celebrate the beautiful role grandparents play in our lives and our families, we’ve decided to rename February to “Forever Young February” here at MoPA.
Now… The bouncers are under strict instruction to shuffle all grandparents to the front of the queue - and waive their ticket price... All. February. Long!
Note: We do still require that grandparents book online - but only to help us manage the comfy capacity limitations we maintain at MoPA (ticket prices at the checkout for grandparents are $0).
And so - Meemaw, Nene, Gigi, Glam, Pa, Zayde, Pop, Babu, Grandad, Gramps and Abuelo - we’ll see you ALL on the dance floor at MoPA this FEB, to show these young folk how that chicken dance SHOULD be done! 💃🕺🐔🎉
